The Urban Ministry Institute of Los Angeles (TUMI-LA) is sponsoring a one-day event for urban fathers. Dr. Ken Canfield will be presenting a challenging workshop entitled Excellence in Fathering. Dr. Canfield is recognized as one of the world’s leading experts on Fathering. He has been recognized as such by leaders as diverse as Oprah, Al Gore, and Dr. James Dobson. More importantly, Dr. Canfield knows and believes in the foundational importance of every man having a healthy relationship with his heavenly Father.
A pastor from one of our urban churches recently prayed that generational curses would be broken at this conference; that fathers, families and churches would be radically different for generations because of what God does at this conference. Please join us in asking God to do this very thing on May 23rd.
The event takes place at World Impact, Saturday, May 23, 2009 from 8 AM to 4 PM. We are hoping to see fathers, grandfathers, and future fathers from at least 25 churches and urban ministries participate in this conference.
Speaker Bio
Dr. Canfield is the founder of the National Center for Fathering (NCF), Serving as NCF's president and CEO from 1990 to 2005. He has appeared on Focus on the Family, ABC's World News Tonight, NBC's Today Show and The Oprah Winfrey Show. Dr. Canfield holds a Ph.D. from Kansas State University, where he earned a Master's Degree working with Dr. J.I. Packer at Regent College, British Columbia and a B.A. from Friends University in Wichita, Kansas. He has authored several award-winning texts, including 7 Secrets of Effective Fathers, and The Heart of a Father. His work has appeared in numerous articles in both popular and educational journals and magazines.
